Meet Bavithra Rajendran, Product Manager for Send4x and Get4x

We're pulling back the stage curtains for a look behind the scenes as we speak to Bavithra Rajendran, our Product Manager for our B2C platforms, Get4x and Send4x. Bavithra was hired earlier this year to launch Send4x, a comparison platform for money transfer fees, as well as to grow the communities for both Get4x (comparison platform for currency exchange rates) and Send4x. She earned her degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering and Management at the National University of Singapore, and has prior experience in product management in tech start-ups as well as digital marketing for an e-commerce start-up. She shares her experience at 4xLabs so far.
What do you do at 4xLabs?
I am the Product Manager at 4xLabs for the B2C Platforms - Get4x and Send4x. Besides that, I also do growth hacking to grow the user communities for both of these platforms.
What was it about the role that attracted you to join 4xLabs?
4xLabs offers various solutions to money service businesses and players. I like that all of it complements each other, positioning 4xLabs as a holistic player in the industry. Lastly, by joining 4xLabs I would be getting to experience both sides of the coin - launching a whole new product and expanding a platform that has been around for years, which definitely drew me in!
What is the most challenging thing about your role?
In my role, there is a very real tendency that tasks "get lost" among new requirements coming in from the different teams, troubleshooting and bugs that crop up in the platform. Managing these requires laser-sharp focus to stick to priorities and sometimes extreme measures such as shutting out communication channels so that I can see tasks to the end before getting swayed by newer issues.
What do you like most about being a product manager?
The diversity of the tasks is exactly why I like being a product manager. No two days are the same and I enjoy playing a supporting role to the development team and seeing the goals for the platform take shape.
What in your opinion is the difference between being a B2C and B2B product manager?
B2C product managers need to be mass-adoption focused while B2B product managers are targeted towards customising products to clients' very specific requirements.
What are your proudest achievements at 4xLabs?
It would be launching Send4x on my third month in the company. It was extremely fulfilling to experience and can almost be considered as instant gratification in terms of product development.
What advice would you give to anyone who wants to be a product manager?
Learn to find the balance between sticking to the pre-defined priorities and being flexible enough to alter those when there is a need. This will be a valuable skill to pick up. Forming good relations with the team also goes a long way in getting the team onboard and in agreement with the proposed development plans (or changes).

Netflix, yoga, and wine!
Any goals to achieve in 2019?
I aim to revamp Get4x to have a fresher look, packed with newer features. For Send4x, I want to grow its user base in Asia. And lastly, I hope to learn a lot more about the fintech industry through my role in 4xLabs!
